What the F**K is GSM??
GSM is a term we hear alot in fashion, but what does it mean? Thats exactly what we're going to do hear for you today! Explain what the heck GSM is and why does it matter so much?
-
GSM stands for grams per square metre, which refers to the weight of a fabric. In general, the higher a fabric’s GSM, the thicker and more hard-wearing it’s likely to be. For example, denim has a much higher GSM than cotton.
-
GSM is an important consideration when it comes to choosing clothes for specific activities such as skating. It helps to regulate body temperature and maximise your performance. While a higher GSM hoodie would previde the highest amount of warmth and more hard-wearing it might not be the best choice when skating or doing other strenuous activites.
-
Light GSM hoodies like the core logo 'Anti-Hero' hoodie comes in a lower GSM allowing you to ride in it without overheating.
-
Heaviness Average GSM
Light Weight (1-150 GSM)
Medium Weight (150-250 GSM)
Heavy Weight (250+ GSM)
Dickies 'Longview' Hoodies are rated at 280gsm, meaning while they still offer warmth and comfort the boast a good level of hard-wearingness, compared to the AS Colour 'Heavy' Hoodie, which is 400gsm, would be your ideal companion on colder nights and trying to stay warm, but not ideal for activites such as skating.
